How To Save $50,000 On Your MRI Maintenance
Hospitals & Imaging Centers have a few choices when it comes to servicing their imaging equipment, which should they choose and why?
OEM Contracts
They can pay the OEM a service fee on an annual basis to service each scanner. It is typically broken down into monthly payments. The OEM option is almost always the most expensive option.
3rd Part Service Company
They can hire a third party service company at a fraction of the price of the OEM. The third party provider maintains the scanner and takes on the risk of the scanner being down, allowing peace of mind for the hospital or imaging center.
In-House Maintenance
The hospital or imaging center does not take a service contract and chooses to take the risk on themselves. When the scanner breaks, they call in a service company like DirectMed to repair their scanner on a time and materials basis. This has been the most popular method recently, as hospitals are realizing they can hire their own in house engineer, which costs less than the contracts they have on their scanners.
